Taskforce formed to chart out action plan for Singhadurbar Vaidhyakhana
Kathmandu . A decision has been made to form a taskforce to chart out a plan of action for augmenting medicinal production of the Singhadurbar Vaidhyakhana Development Committee. The taskforce is mandated to prepare a plan for the sustainable collection, preservation, processing, and use of the medicinal herbs needed for raw materials of its production.
After a discussion here today on the sustainable collection, preservation, processing, and use of medicinal herbs at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) in Singhadurbar, it was decided to form a taskforce with an expert team under the coordination of the committee’s executive director Dr. Pradeep KC.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s health advisor Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agrawal, who chaired the meeting, emphasized on immediately forming a taskforce for development of the committee and preparing a development plan within three months.
“Carry out necessary coordination and facilitation among relevant agencies for the purpose of enhancing performance of the Committee. Work with an implementable action plan within three months.” Dr. Agrawal stressed the need to immediately increase the number of medicinal products of Vaidhyakhana by optimally using medicinal herbs available in the country and export the products in coming days.
Likewise, Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadi, also echoed the need of coordination among relevant bodies to solve the problems seen in the collection of medicinal herbs as raw materials.
He said, “For the proper use of raw materials, necessary coordination and facilitation among the concerned agencies are needed, as well as improvements in the law. There should be no any delay in formulating laws regarding medicinal plants, from their protection to collection and consumption.’
