Rescue team starts supplying oxygen inside Trishuli-III ‘A’ tunnel
Kathmandu . A team mobilised for the rescue of the people who are trapped inside the Trishuli-III ‘A’ Hydropower tunnel following the Bhotekoshi flash flood has succeeded to reach the upper part of the tunnel.
“The team made a small opening onto the tunnel by drilling and has started supplying oxygen inside the structure,” Home Minister Sudhan Gurung writes on his Facebook account.
According to the Minister, the team is expected to find an entry point to the tunnel. A significant number of people including engineers and workers are believed to have left trapped inside the tunnel. The tunnel lies along the geographically-challenging location and the government has sought the support from neighbouring India and China to manage skilled human resources for the rescue operations.
The security personnel have intensified the search and rescue operation in the area since Saturday noon in coordination with the technical workforce.
