PM Dahal calls for security, dignity of Nepali migrant workers
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has emphasized the importance of ensuring dignity and safety in labor market.
In a discussion at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Dahal urged authorities to prioritize the safety and welfare of Nepali migrant workers.
The discussions addressed challenges faced by Nepali migrants abroad and strategies for effective labor market management.
Efforts were also made to extend social security coverage to those engaged in foreign employment, self-employment, and the informal sector.
A dedicated program on this topic is scheduled for August 16, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meeting, PM Dahal instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive study on issues encountered by Nepali migrant workers abroad, seeking sustainable solutions for future discussions.
In attendance were the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka, Minister of Finance Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari, Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, secretaries from relevant ministries, and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office.
