Domestic airlines raise flight prices

Kathmandu: Following an increase in aviation turbine fuel prices by the Nepal Oil Corporation for domestic airline companies, operators of domestic airlines have increased fares across the board.

The fuel surcharges are subject to revision based on the cost of aviation fuel. According to the Nepalese Airline Operators Association, the price increase will come into operation tomorrow onward.

With effect starting on July 5, the NOC agreed to hike the price of petroleum products and increase the cost of aviation fuel by five rupees per liter.

Depending on the distance, airline companies have hiked the fuel fees by 45 to 220 rupees.

The cost of fuel has increased by Rs 220 for the longest route between Kathmandu and Dhangadi.

For flights to places close to Kathmandu, there would be a minimum increase of Rs 45; however, there will be a fuel surcharge of Rs 170 for flights to mountain flights from Kathmandu.

The Kathmandu-Dhangadi trip currently has the highest one-way rate (Rs 17,025) among the 13 domestic destinations, according to the updated price list. The Kathmandu-Simara route has the lowest cost, with one-way tickets priced at Rs 4,240.
