Newly elected Kathmandu mayor and deputy mayor receive praise for their live telecast meeting.
Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s newly elected mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairpersons, and ward members took the oath during a special ceremony at City Hall on Monday.
Mayor Balendra Shah highlighted his goal to focus on Kathmandu’s waste management problem and to live webcast the City’s executive meets during the oath-taking ceremony on Monday.
Independent candidate Mayor Shah took the oath in both Nepali and Nepal Bhasa. Following that, Shah swore in other elected officials, including Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.
Good governance experts and right to information campaigners have praised Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah’s decision to hold executive body meetings publicly, allowing media outlets to broadcast/telecast live.
