The International Labour Organization (ILO) has handed over goods to the government for improving Nepal’s labour administration.

ILO Nepal Director Richard Howard handed the goods to Minister for Labour Krishna Kumar Shrestha amidst a programme at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security on Monday. The support includes five motorbikes, 24 laptops and printers.

On the occasion, the ILO Nepal Director said ILO has been providing technical cooperation for the security of Nepali workers going on foreign employment or those working inside the country, and for resolving their problems. Minister Shrestha thanked ILO for the support it has been providing for systematizing the foreign employment sector. The Country Programme for Decent Work in Nepal (2018-2022) is in operation with the technical assistance of ILO.

Nepal had become a member of the ILO, a specialized agency of the United Nations Organization, in 1966. The only tripartite UN agency, since 1919 the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers of 187 member States, to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes promoting decent work for all women and men.
