President urged to call for formation of majority government

Three major political parties have urged the President to call for the formation of a majority government, citing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been relieved from the post after he failed to get a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR).

Issuing a joint statement today, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chairperson of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Upendra Yadav urged the President to call for the formation of the majority government as per the Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The statement reads, “We urge the President to initiate the process of appointing Prime Minister as per the Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal as Oli has been relieved from the post.”
