Four companies have submitted a proposal to carry out a study of setting up Nepal’s own satellite.
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has asked for a new proposal in this regard after cancelling a proposal it had sought six months ago for the technical works including the entire policy including regulation and security of satellite installation, framework, legal structure, technical requirements and business structure.
As per the proposal, nine companies in the country had submitted a letter of intent. Of them, the NTA has shortlisted five companies and sought economic proposal from them in this regard. Of the five companies, four had submitted a proposal in this regard, said the NTA’s spokesperson Santosh Poudel. The companies that submitted a proposal are KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services LLP based in India, London Economics Limited in the United Kingdom, Euro Consult in France and S3 International in the United Arab Emirates. However, Space Partnership International based in the United States of America did not submit the proposal, he said, adding that among the four, one company will be finally selected for the project on the merit basis.—
