Additional 8,659 cases of coronavirus recorded in the last 24 hours

Nepal has recorded additional 8,659 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 8,604 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 54 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through antigen method.
Ministry Spokesperson Jageswor Gautam said that swab samples of 20,756 people were tested through PCR method while 616 were tested adopting antigen method. With this the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 66,352.
The country has so far recorded a total number of 359,610 coronavirus cases. Among the infected, 4,764 are staying at institutional isolation while 61,588 are in home isolation. As many as 600 infected are undergoing treatment at ICUs and 156 on ventilator support.
According to the ministry, 58 people had lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, the coronavirus related death has reached 3,475 in number. Total 1,993 have recovered from the virus during the period.
So far 289, 783 infected have recovered from coronavirus, the ministry shared.
Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley has recorded 3,825 coronavirus infection related cases. The Ministry revealed that Kathmandu has recorded 2,849, Bhaktapur 458 and Lalitpur 518 coronavirus cases. The Kathmandu Valley has recorded 15 fatalities from coronavirus in a day today. —
