Son in law killed after not paying Rs 1,500 for buying buffalo: Arrested after 41 years

Kanchanpur : Malang Tamang (Lama), 76, of Buddhabasti in Savik Parasan VDC-1 has been arrested by the police on Tuesday.

According to Amar Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Tamang was arrested while he was hiding in his house.

According to him, Tamang, who had absconded after committing the crime on March 26, 2036 BS, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the then Far Western Regional Court on March 20, 2046 BS. Namja Tamang, a son-in-law of Tamang, was killed in a dispute over a loan of Rs 1,500 for a buffalo.

He had absconded after the incident. The arrested Tamang has been produced in the Kanchanpur District Court for necessary action and has been sent to jail for payment of imprisonment.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Thapa Chhetri, an investigation is underway into the incident.
