Three homestays to receive grant of Rs 2.4 million
Kathmandu : Three community homestays of the district have been chosen for infrastructure development programme of the Gandaki province government this year. Project proposals to this effect have also been approved for the infrastructure development, capacity building and empowerment.
According to the Gandaki Province Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, the projects selected for grant assistance are ‘Galkot Stone Village community homestay’ of Galkot municipality-6, Bhujunge, ‘Beldhunga community homestay’ of Kathekhola rural municipality-3 and ‘Handikot community homestay’ of Jaimini municipality-10.
The operators of the homestays are doing ground work for signing agreement for the implementation of the projects. Each homestay will receive grant assistance of Rs 800,000 to be spent for tourism promotion along with infrastructure development.
Chairperson of Galkot Stone Village Community Homestay Kamala Shreesh shared that the plan this year is for the construction of trekking route. “We are constructing tourism-friendly trekking route to connect one house to another in the village”.
Beldhunga homestay of Kathekhola and Handikot homestay of Jaimini have also mooted their plan for infrastructure development. Homestay operators have been elated with the rise in the inflow of tourists to homestays of late.
The state agencies have also spurt their investment for the promotion of homestays. As many as 28 homestays are in operation in Baglung district so as to promote rural tourism. –
