Bharatpur Metropolitan City closed today

Kathmandu : The Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan has been closed for a day today. It has been closed to mourn the death of Him Bahadur Piya, the former mayor of then Bharatpur Municipality, Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s administrative officer Prem Raj Joshi said.

The metropolis through a public notice stated that it and all offices under it would remain closed for one day today. Mayor Renu Dahal has paid tribute to the late Piya and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

Piya had contributed significantly for the development of Bharatpur as the Pradhan Pancha (Chair) of then Narayangadh Gaun Panchayat and as the pro-public mayor of Bharatpur municipality in 2042 BS.
