1,201 new cases of coronavirus confirmed including 431 in Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu: The country recorded a total of 1,201 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Kathmandu valley saw 431 new cases including 377 in Kathmandu district and 37 in Laliptur and 17 in Bhaktapur.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that the total number of infected ones in the country reached 53,220. Altogether 10,176 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Gautam added.

With the recent data, the total number of active cases reached 15,260 in the country. According to Dr Gautam, 852 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning battle against the virus reached 37,524 in the country. So far, the recovery rate of the coronavirus infected is 70.6 per cent in Nepal.

Dr Gautam stated that a total of 6,153 people are in home isolation and 9,107 others are in institutional isolation facilities. Similarly, the number of people living in quarantine facilities is 6,354. It is said that 160 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 24 others are in ventilators across the country.

He further said that Sunsari, Sarlahi, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lalitpur and Rupandehi districts have more than 500 active cases each. However, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Manang, Myagdi, Dolpa, Mugu and Humla have no active cases.
Likewise, 14 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours totaling the corona virus caused deaths 336 so far, the Ministry confirmed. It is said that five persons died of the virus in Kathmandu valley in the past 24 hours.
