COVID-19 death toll reaches 31 in Maldives

Kathmandu: The number of deaths caused by COVID-19 has reached 31 in the Maldives, local media reported here Thursday.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 60-year old Maldivian male in the ICU of the HMF hospital, and a 58-year old Maldivian male cancer patient at the KRH hospital, died on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, The HPA said that 93 additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Wednesday, including those of 67 locals and 26 foreigners, raising the country’s total case count to 8,834.

According to the HPA, there are 2,509 active cases of COVID-19 spread across 25 inhabited islands and 21 resorts.

There are currently 127 infected patients who have been hospitalised for treatment, while 6,288 people have fully recovered from the virus.
