17 including District Police Chief infected with coronavirus

Kathmandu: Chief of District Police Office, Saptari, and 16 others have been infected with coronavirus. According to the District Health Office’s Acting Chief Duniyalal Yadav, 45-year-old Superintendent of Police, 45-year-old Deputy Superintendent of Police and others tested positive for the virus.

It is said that their PCR testing was conducted in Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj. Currently, all the infected police personnel are in home isolation. So far, 57 police personnel got infected with the virus in the district of Saptari, according to the District Police Office.

Likewise, nine jailbirds and two police personnel deployed at the District Prison House were also tested positive for coronavirus in the district on Thursday. With this, the number of infected jailbirds reached 15.

Similarly, in the test conducted on Thursday itself, a staff nurse and a sweeper tested positive for the virus in Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital while two more individuals from Rajbiraj Municipality also tested positive for the virus.

So far, the total number of infected in the district reached 991 while eight persons succumbed to the virus, the Hospital’s Acting Medical Superintendent Dr Ranajit Kumar Jha said.
Altogether, 682 persons in the district got victory over the virus.
