Banks must avoid unethical competition: Governor

Kathmandu. Nepal rastra bank governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has instructed banks and finance companies not to compete unhealthily. While discussing on Integrated Directives – 2077 with CEOs of commercial bank Tuesday, governor Adhikari instructed CEOs to not to follow the unfair practices.

According to the sources in Tuesday’s meeting with CEOs, Governor Adhikari requested bankers to not panic as the banking is long-term business and also stressed that this is not the right time for a self centric move for any institution.

Currently due to COVID-19 impacts there is outthought competition between banks are increasing. Due to the growing liquidity inside the banking system banks are under the pressure and due to this there is compaction on attracting credit clients between banks.

NRB Tuesday conducted a comprehensive discussion on upcoming Integrated Directives – 2077 with all CEOs from banks, developments banks and finance companies.
