Coronavirus infection rate like to rise: Health Ministry

Kathmandu. The government has projected that coronavirus infection cases would further rise in the next few days.

In a regular press briefing organised at the Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday, MoHP Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that the coronavirus infection rate would be further increased in coming few days as the infection rate is increasing day by day.

He expressed the view more challenges is likely to be faced along with the increase of the infection. The COVID-19 infection has now been increasing at the places where there is presence of security personnel, health workers, employees and densely populated areas.

The Spokesperson also requested people to stay in isolation once coronavirus is confirmed and asked coronavirus infected people without symptoms to stay in home isolation if possible.

Dr Gautam urged all to have positive thoughts and change lifestyle so as to deal with the infection in an effective way and unite in the fight against it. He also asked them to follow public health standards.


The country recorded 1,111 new infection cases on Thursday alone and eight deaths from the virus. He expressed empathy towards the employees on duty to prevent and control the infection.

“All bodies of the country have worked day and night to fight the virus. Families of the people in the fight against it have contracted the infection. All the employees who are fighting the virus and their families should be support in such hard times.”
