A tally shows that 2.27% throat swab samples collected at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences have tested COVID-19 positive.

According to Dr. Nidesh Sapkota, the spokesperson at the Dharan-based teaching hospital, a total of 1,9450 samples have been collected at the microbiology lab of the BPKIHS as of Monday evening.

Out of these samples collected, 441 have tested positive which accounts for 2.27 % of the total samples collected. However, rest of the tested samples have tested negative. Dr. Sapkota said the situation is not troubling as in the last 24 hours, only a single pandemic patient has admitted to the hospital. Currently, 100 pandemic patients are undergoing treatment at BPKIHS.

Four pandemic patients have died and 292 discharged after recovering, informed Dr. Sapkota. The BPKIHS is the first health facility in the State-1 to start Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (PCR) for Corona Virus.

It started PCR test on March 29, just six days after the nationwide lockdown in Nepal. Chief Minister of the sate-1 had inaugurated its official beginning.
