Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that party unity should be ensured from the higher level. “The cadres and public don’t want split in the NCP.

The unity should be strengthened from the higher level to respect the public aspirations,” chairman Prachanda said Saturday addressing a programme organised to in memory of late leader Tulsilal Amatya. He also observed the party’s debates and disputes as normal.

On the occasion, he urged the party cadres not to trust that the ongoing debates are for positional gains and added that they were for establishing the ideology, values, norms and system in the party. “The debate is not for post. Service to the nation and people is the key,” he added.

We are in the responsibility of developing the nation and ensuring the future of the nation and people, he added. Dahal was of the view that debates in the party were usual since the communist parties run on ideology and system. He also recalled that he has renounced his positions for political instability and unity.

Claiming that the trends of party split would be defeated, Dahal argued that the debates in the party should not be swept under the carpet. “The current debate is sharp. We have sharp debates ongoing.

There is no alternative to maintain party unity by taking education from the history’s experiences. The trends for party split shall be defeated,” he added.
