100 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today

Coronavirus infection has been confirmed on 100 individuals on Wednesday. With this, the number of coronavirus infected people has reached 18,094 in the country.

The number of active cases has reached 5,370. In a regular press briefing organised by the Ministry of Health and Population here on Wednesday, Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared that 100 new coronavirus cases were confirmed while carrying out test of 3,779 samples in 28 labs across the nation in the last 24 hours.

The new coronavirus infected people are from Sunsari, Jhapa, Morang, Saptari, Dhanusha, Parsa, Bara, Kathmandu, Sarlahi, Chitwan, Baglung, Lamjung, Syangja, Banke, Bardiya, Kalikot, Doti, Dailekh and Bajhang, according to the Ministry. There are 119 active coronavirus cases in state-1, 1,878 in state-2, 420 in Bagmati state, 379 in Gandaki state, 345 in state-5, 290 in Karnali state and 1,927 in Sudur Paschim state.

According to Dr Gautam, there are 20,842 people in quarantine. A total of 207 people have been discharged after completely recovery in last 24 hours. With this, the number of people who have recovered from the deadly virus has reached 12,684.

Two persons including a Chinese citizen died from COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 42 as of today, according to the Ministry. Rautahat, Kailali and Bajura districts have more than 500 coronavirus cases. Dr Gautam said that though the government has ended lockdown, citizen themselves should adopt necessary safety measures to protect themselves from COVID-19.
