NRB unveils monetary policy

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has unveiled monetary policy for current fiscal year 2020/21 today.

NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari said that the monetary policy has been focused with a target to reduce the impact of coronavirus pandemic on the economy.

The government has set a target to achieve seven per cent economic growth rate in current fiscal year. Some issues have been incorporated in the policy to meet this goal.

The policy has given special emphasis for investment in agro, energy, and the small and medium-scale industries with a target to reduce impact of coronavirus on the economy. Similarly, the policy has set a target to forward Agriculture Development Bank as the leading bank for development of the agriculture sector.

The monetary policy has been formulated for further encouraging the bank and financial institutions for the investment in the agro sector, added Governor Adhikari.
