One additional dead; 586 infected added to national tally today

A woman lost her life to coronavirus infection today. The 46-year-old woman from Baijanathpur rural municipality-6 died while undergoing treatment at the Banke-based Nepalgunj Medical College Kohalpur, shared the ministry of health and population.

With this case the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 20 in the country. The woman afflicting from renal related disease was admitted to the hospital on June 12 and died on June 15, informed ministry spokesperson Dr Jageswor Gautam in the regular press conference held at the ministry. She had tested positive for COVID-19 after her swab sample went through laboratory test on June 15, Dr Gautam added.

He also shared that 586 people have tested positive for the deadly virus in a single day today. It includes 546 male and 40 female. This is so far the highest number of infection in a single day. With this the national tally of the infected climbed to 7,177. The total count includes 6,638 male and 539 female.

Nine infected male have returned home after recovery today. So far the number of people discharged following recovery has reached 1,167 including 1,055 male and 112 female. So far 149,772 PCR tests and 233,943 RDT tests were performed across the country. —
