Afghan gun battle kills 7 militants in southern Helmand province

Seven militants have been confirmed dead as a clash erupted in Gereshk district of the southenr Helmand province on Tuesday, district police chief Mohammed Ismael Khapalwak said.

The clash, according to the official, broke out early Tuesday morning and lasted for a while and the militants fled away after leaving seven bodies behind. Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

In similar clash, three militants were also killed in the neighboring Sangin district a day earlier on Monday, according to local officials.
