Afghanistan detects 492 new COVID-19 cases within day

May 20- The Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday said that 492 people, including 262 in the capital city Kabul, have been tested positive for COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.

The ministry said in a statement that 1,003 suspected cases have been tested during the period across the country, bringing the national tally to 8,145. The ministry also said that 10 people died and 80 people recovered during the past 24 hours.

A total of 188 patients have died and 390 others have recovered since the outbreak in mid February, according to the statement.
