Ministers assigned further responsibility for COVID-19 prevention

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday has assigned additional responsibility to the ministers who are on the Coronavirus Prevention and Control High-level Coordination Committee.

These ministers have been given further responsibility of coordinating with the State Governments for the COVID-19 prevention, government spokesperson Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada informed journalists. Accordingly, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung has been given responsibility of formulating action plan for addressing the effect COVID-19 pandemic has and could have on women, senior citizens, people with disabilities and children, and to mobilise the social organisations.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating on coronavirus prevention in State-1, the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal the responsibility of coordination in Gandaki State and Minister for Forests and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet the coordination work in Karnali State.

Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma is assigned the coordinating role for making and implementing a plan for managing and mobilising youths and sportspersons as volunteers in relief distribution; the Minister for Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources Barshaman Pun the responsibility of coordinating with State-5 Government on topics related to prevention and control of COVID-19; the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe to continuously carry out dialogue and coordination with various political parties representing in the federal parliament regarding containing coronavirus.

Likewise, Minister for Labour and Employment Rameshwor Ray Yadav has been assigned responsibility of coordinating with State-2 Government regarding control of coronavirus while Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Bina Magar has been given the additional role of coordination with the Sudur Paschim State Government on works related to COVID-19 prevention and control.
