A 60 feet-tall hill station tower will be constructed at Lisangkhupakhar rural municipality in Sindhupalchok district in a bid to attract as many as tourists targeting Visit Nepal Year, 2020.

The Bagmati state government will provide Rs 88 million for the project and its deadline is two years. A detailed project report of the project has been prepared, said Kamal Nepal, chairperson of the rural municipality. A children park, a picnic spot, lodges and a garden will also be constructed at the project site spanning around 40 ropanis of land, he said.

Minister for Tourism, Industry, Forest and Environment of the state, Arun Nepal recently laid the foundation stone for the project amid a function. At an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level, one can view Sailung, Kalinchok Temple, Gaurishankar mountain peak and Jugal mountain range from the site. Likewise, one can catch view of Dolakha, various areas of Sindhupalchok, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga and Kavrepalanchok.

It may be noted that first Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) climbers, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norge Sherpa used the route through the area on their expedition to climb Mt Everest in 1953. They also spent nights, said an elderly local man.
